Inviting applications for the “Exim Bank of India BRICS Economic Research Award 2017”

1.    In the current global economic landscape, “BRICS” has emerged as an important economic force representing the five major emerging economies.  You may be aware that during India’s  chairmanship of the BRICS Forum in 2016, the Export-Import Bank of India (Exim Bank), being the nominated member development bank from India under the BRICS Interbank Cooperation Mechanism, had instituted the Exim Bank of India BRICS Economic Research Award, at the instance of the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India, with the objective of encouraging and stimulating advanced research on economics related topics of relevance to the member nations of BRICS. 

 

2.    The annual Award, comprises of a Citation and prize money of Indian Rupees 1.5 million (equivalent) (approximately USD 20,000) which is sponsored by Exim Bank. The Award would serve to encourage scholars to undertake focused research studies on topics of contemporary relevance to BRICS. 

 

3.    The Award accepts as entries, Doctoral Theses written by nationals of any of the five member nations of BRICS, who have been awarded a Doctorate or accepted for award of a Doctorate from any recognized nationally accredited University or academic institution globally, during the period January 2012 to March 2017.  The broad focus of the eligible theses could be International Economics, Trade, Development, and related aspects of Financing, which may also have particular relevance especially to BRICS nations/ member development banks of BRICS. The detailed guidelines of the Award and terms and conditions for application, along with the application form are attached herewith for ready reference, and are also available on Exim Bank’s websitehttps://www.eximbankindia.in/awards . Kindly note that the last date for submitting the application is May 10, 2017.  Exim Bank envisages to announce the Award winner during the 9th BRICS Summit tentatively scheduled to be held in China during September 2017. 

 

4.    The details of the Award have been disseminated globally. Given your interest in this field and likely eligibility to apply for the Award based on your doctoral thesis, you may kindly consider competing for this Award and sending across your application for the same to Exim Bank. A copy of the broad guidelines of the Award along with a copy of the application form is attached herewith for your ready reference. You are also requested to kindly share this information with your colleagues, friends and scholars, who may also be eligible to apply for the Award.
