A culture of transparency benefits both the State and the citizenry as it contributes to enhancing the legitimacy and credibility of public institutions, while it strengthens the ability of civil society to monitor State performance.
Chile’s Council for Transparency represents an innovative institutional design within the State, not only due to its autonomous character but its role in promoting a culture of transparency in Chile and enforcing through regular monitoring of the Access to Information Law.
